TRAININGSThe Southern Coast Addiction Technology Transfer Center and the South Florida Behavioral Health Network bring you the training Introduction to Substance Use Disorder Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals. Research has shown that a greater proportion of LGBT individuals experience problems related to substance use and these problems continue into later ages as compared with their heterosexual counterparts. Despite this higher rate of substance abuse, most treatment providers are not responding adequately to the needs of these populations. This 12-hour workshop addresses many factors that are important for the provision high-quality substance abuse treatment for LGBT individuals and provides guidance on specific clinical interventions. Training will take place 10/24/2011 and 10/25/2011 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm each day at Camillus House, 336 Northwest 5 Street, Miami, Florida 33128.
