United Way of Miami-Dade Helps Individuals and Families, who qualify, access free tax preparation and filing services. With tax season underway, individuals can access free tax preparation and filing services, as well as get information on eligibility requirements for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other tax credits. To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien with a valid Social Security number. If you do not have time to visit a site, you can arrange for a representative to come to your place of employment. FUNDING & IN-KIND RESOURCES

Florida Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF), the federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own. Homeowners who qualify for financial assistance may receive up to six (6) months of monthly mortgage payments (including escrowed mortgage-related payments) and/or funds to pay past due mortgage payments to bring the mortgage current; these funds are paid directly to the loan servicer/lender. SAVE THE DATE - 16th Annual Conference Family-based Interventions with Children and Adolescents, 5/4/12, 8:30 am - 4 pm. Recent reviews of evidence-based interventions have highlighted that some of the most effective treatments for children and adolescents with both externalizing problems (conduct and oppositional disorders, substance abuse and antisocial behaviors) and internalizing problems (anxiety and depressive disorders) directly engage parents as partners of the treatment team. Clinical Therapist - Center for Family and Child Enrichment will report to the operations administrator in the department of community-based care. Will provide weekly individual and family therapy to clients, using appropriate treatment modality. Conduct bio-psychological assessments of clients referred for therapy, ensuring that all appropriate assurances and authorizations are obtained. Develop and maintain appropriate treatment planning in conjunction with clients/families. Primarily a day shift with some evening and weekend hours. Data Entry Specialist - Switchboard of Miami will be responsible for entering data into funder and organization required data systems. Demonstration School Teacher - United Way of Miami-Dade, will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development, in collaboration with the Demonstration School Director and the Lead Teacher. Position will report to the Master Teacher. A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education that encompasses child development and learning of children, birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting and assessing young children. Dependency Case Manager - Center for Family and Child Enrichment will report to the dependency case manager supervisor in the community-based care department. Will develop and review service plans and implement activities which assure access to services documented in dependency court case plans. Advocate for clients at relevant agencies, service planning meetings and in the courts, as needed. Conduct and document home visits, schedule appointments (including contacting responsible parties to coordinate appointments giving directions as needed) and/or arrange transportation and other services as needed. Primarily a day shift, however, on call 24/7 as needed. A bachelor's degree in a human services-related field from an accredited university, and at least one year working with children and families. Also, in order to be considered for this position, you must possess a State of Florida Child Protection Certification. Development Specialist - Switchboard of Miami responsible for donor development, acquisition, cultivation, direct solicitation and management of activities to maximize the financial support for special initiatives and funding. He/she will provide marketing and communications support, including newsletters, annual reports and direct mail under general supervision; and managing online communications, including the organization's website, social media sites (such as Facebook, Twitter); assist CEO with grant proposals and reports, including drafting proposals and reports for private foundations and funders and managing grant timelines; maintaining proposal templates and identifying funding opportunities, attend external meetings, events and other donor-related functions; maintain organization's donor database, gift acknowledgements and perform other duties as required. Executive Assistant/Development Coordinator (Part-Time) - Breakthrough Miami Center - the position reports to the executive director and the director of strategic development. The right candidate is a high-energy professional and a strong team player. He/she must be comfortable in assuming significant responsibility for managing the Cluster Office, which serves as the base of operations for executives as well as a hub for a program staff of 10 located at four school sites. This individual will also be responsible for handling sensitive donor data and communications. Executive Director - Foster Care Review Inc., will build on our exceptional record of administering the citizen review panel program for the Juvenile Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. The individual selected shall possess an understanding of the child welfare issues that are unique to the mission of the organization as well as a high level of fundraising and management experience. The executive director is the highest executive officer of the organization and works in partnership with the board of directors to provide leadership, vision and direction. He/she is responsible for the execution of the agency's strategic goals and management of the agency. This is a full-time position, hired by and directly accountable to the board of directors through its elected board chair. Experienced Social Worker/Counselor - for a nonprofit agency in the Homestead area will be working with children and families in need of services in the Homestead community and surrounding area. Candidate must possess strong case management and counseling skills, knowledge of the resources in the community, and be a passionate advocate for the children and families served. Minimum education requirements are a BSW or equivalent, with at least two years' experience in the field. Bilingual in Spanish or Creole a plus. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

MDC Single Stop Mentoring Program, the program places a mentor and student in a two-year mentoring relationship to provide the student with the additional support needed to persist toward a college degree. For the mentor, it provides a volunteer opportunity tailored to fit the schedule of a working professional while providing the rewarding opportunity of assisting a student working toward their college degree. The process is simple - anyone living in the Miami area, who is 24 years or older and has completed a two-year college can apply. Fill out an application, attend a one-time mentor orientation and complete security screening. Once you have cleared these simple hurdles, you are matched with a student and will be expected to send one weekly email to your mentee and meet with them once a month at the MDC campus or MDC Single Stop sponsored event. Foster Care Review (FCR) is eager to recruit new citizen review panel volunteers to help make a difference in the lives of abused and abandoned children living in Miami-Dade's foster care system. Volunteer panel members spend one weekday per month reviewing the status of children and making recommendations to Miami's Juvenile Court and other concerned parties regarding each child's safety, well-being and permanency. FCR's volunteer panels provide caring and investigative oversight for each child, while information collected through our reviews helps FCR to advocate for system reform. FCR volunteers must be 25 years or older and must be a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward County. Background screening is required. No special skills are needed. Training will be provided. Miami Dade Military Service Partnership SSVF Program - Veterans Link Up, Inc. The SSVF program is part of the VA's commitment to end homelessness among veterans in the next five years. SSVF provides SHORT-TERM case management and supportive services to help low-income veterans and veteran families who qualify, obtain (or retain) permanent, stable housing. Eligibility requirements: veterans and veteran families who are low income (below 50% of the Average Median Income for Miami-Dade County) and National Guard members who have been deployed AND have received a DD214. The Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida is accepting nominations until Monday, 4/16/12 for the "Fathers for Children" Award. Fathers who win the award will be recognized by civic and community leaders during the "Fathers for Children" event on 6/16/11 by civic and community leaders. Nominations must be submitted on 8 ½ X 11 letter size paper and be no more than 1,000 words. Each submission must address the following questions: 1) Why are you nominating this father to receive this unique recognition? 2) How does the father help his child (or children) with their schooling, their friends, their community and the challenges they face? 3) How has the father's involvement in his children's lives helped other children too? 4) What special circumstances has the father had to overcome?
