The Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) and M+R Strategic Services are seeking organizations to participate in the 2013 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study. This study updates the key metrics published in 2012. It will examine trends in nonprofit email messaging campaigns, online fundraising, and social media efforts, and establish benchmarks based on the findings. Share your insight and skills on a United Way Impact Council. As part of United Way's community plan, volunteers commit to helping United Way achieve key goals in the areas of education, financial stability and health. These volunteers serve on one of six impact councils focused on children, youth, families, older adults, health and financial stability. United Way's impact councils develop council goals and objectives; assess funding requests and formulate investment recommendations; identify public policy priorities; develop other relevant recommendations to address achievement of the goals and objectives; and monitor program outcomes. Access mortgage assistance through Florida Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF) - The federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own. Homeowners who qualify for financial assistance may receive up to six (6) months of monthly mortgage payments (including escrowed mortgage-related payments) and/or funds to pay past due mortgage payments to bring the mortgage current; these funds are paid directly to the loan servicer/lender. Substance Abuse & HIV Community Educator - Switchboard of Miami, will work collaboratively with Florida Memorial University's (FMU) school administration in the implementation of Project PROTECT and in partnership with other campus and community partners in the delivery of an evidence-based substance abuse and HIV program. The American Red Cross South Florida Region is seeking volunteers interested in helping with the reception desk in their Broward & Miami offices. Aging Network's Volunteer Collaborative empowers older adults to volunteer. Since its launch in May 2012, more than 200 people have joined the online community at the new Aging Network's Volunteer Collaborative. The Volunteer Collaborative is an online resource to assist the Aging Network in engaging and empowering older adults and maximizing their leadership skills and experiences. It is funded by the Administration for Community Living Administration on Aging and led by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) in partnership with several other aging network partners. The goal of the Volunteer Collaborative is to increase the number of older adult volunteers to one million by 2015. Mentor a college student through MDC's Single Stop Mentoring Program. The program places a mentor and student in a two-year mentoring relationship to provide the student with the additional support needed to persist toward a college degree. For the mentor, it provides a volunteer opportunity tailored to fit the schedule of a working professional while providing the rewarding opportunity of assisting a student working toward their college degree. The process is simple - anyone living in the Miami area, who is 24 years or older and has completed a two-year college can apply. Fill out an application, attend a one-time mentor orientation and complete security screening. Once you have cleared these simple hurdles, you are matched with a student and will be expected to send one weekly email to your mentee and meet with them once a month at the MDC campus or MDC Single Stop sponsored event. Volunteer and make a difference for children in foster care. Foster Care Review (FCR) is eager to recruit new citizen review panel volunteers to help make a difference in the lives of abused and abandoned children living in Miami-Dade's foster care system. Volunteer panel members spend one weekday per month reviewing the status of children and making recommendations to Miami's Juvenile Court and other concerned parties regarding each child's safety, well-being and permanency. FCR's volunteer panels provide caring and investigative oversight for each child, while information collected through our reviews helps FCR to advocate for system reform. FCR volunteers must be 25 years or older and must be a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward County. Background screening is required. No special skills are needed. Training will be provided. Respite for the Holidays - Easter Seals has been awarded funds to provide facility-based respite service - either in an assisted living facility or a nursing home - depending on the level of care required by the individual in need of service. In order to qualify, the person must be a functionally impaired older adult over the age of 60 residing at home with a primary caregiver. This service gives the caregiver time to manage various tasks during these busy days and be recharged to continue to care for their loved one at home.
