The Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) and M+R Strategic Services are seeking organizations to participate in the 2013 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study. This study updates the key metrics published in 2012. It will examine trends in nonprofit email messaging campaigns, online fundraising, and social media efforts, and establish benchmarks based on the findings. Job Creation Awards @ SFLUM. Share your insight and skills on a United Way Impact Council. As part of United Way's community plan, volunteers commit to helping United Way achieve key goals in the areas of education, financial stability and health. These volunteers serve on one of six impact councils focused on children, youth, families, older adults, health and financial stability. United Way's impact councils develop council goals and objectives; assess funding requests and formulate investment recommendations; identify public policy priorities; develop other relevant recommendations to address achievement of the goals and objectives; and monitor program outcomes. Save money with the FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Card. The FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Card is being distributed by United Way of Miami-Dade. For people with no health insurance, or those who need medications not covered by their insurance plan, this card could lower the cost by an average of 30 percent. There are no age, income or residency restrictions, no limit on how many times you can use it and no waiting to get a card. Nearly 1,000 United Ways in all 50 states are supporting this effort. To date, we have saved Miami-Dade residents over $2.5 million on their prescription medications. Learn about grant opportunities - Miami-Dade County grants coordination has a grant opportunities portal designed to meet the growing needs of local nonprofits, small businesses, governmental organizations, and local residents. The site offers its users direct access to a multitude of current grant opportunities in an online database; an interface with selective browsing capabilities, including key word search and funding category filtering options; real time posting of the latest grant opportunities; a free automated and subscriber-based weekly grant mail newsletter providing email alerts of "ripe" funding opportunities from a variety of funding sources. Access mortgage assistance through Florida Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF) - The federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own. Homeowners who qualify for financial assistance may receive up to six (6) months of monthly mortgage payments (including escrowed mortgage-related payments) and/or funds to pay past due mortgage payments to bring the mortgage current; these funds are paid directly to the loan servicer/lender. Created by LivingWorks, ASIST, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, is a 2-day highly interactive, practical, and practice-oriented workshop for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The workshop will discuss methods and provide tools necessary to encourage the continuation of life - no matter what challenges are faced. Child-Parent Psychotherapist (P/T) - Family Counseling Services of Greater Miami, Inc., will provide dyadic and/or play therapy, parenting skills education, case management support, and actively participate in a multidisciplinary effort to support permanency goals of families. Director of Community Building Department (CB) - Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc. (NHSSF) will be responsible for six department heads and serve an important internal and external role in relation to NHSSF's community development efforts. Educate internal staff regarding company's community building (CB) goals related to neighborhood stabilization/revitalization services, by working in target markets to support real estate development efforts, working with department managers to deliver service in selected communities targeted for stabilization, or helping link NHSSF with partners to help achieve desired community outcomes. Oversee work of CB team which includes a lead community organizer, two (2) full-time VISTAs, and volunteers. The CB staff's work includes organizing an Annual Community Paint & Beautification Day project, community leadership training classes and events, coordinating neighborhood data collection efforts, and creating community engagement events and projects. Bachelor's or master's degree in urban planning, city planning, urban studies, real estate development, geography or community development preferred. Five years of experience in urban planning, community development and/or public policy may be considered as substitution for master's degree. Substance Abuse & HIV Community Educator - Switchboard of Miami, will work collaboratively with Florida Memorial University's (FMU) school administration in the implementation of Project PROTECT and in partnership with other campus and community partners in the delivery of an evidence-based substance abuse and HIV program. He/she will participate in on-going needs assessment studies that include working with local HIV planning groups in the implementation of surveys, key informant interviews, focus groups and more and working with FMU staff to assist with recruitment strategies. Qualifications include: bachelor's degree and two years related experience working with substance abuse or HIV populations or programs and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The American Red Cross South Florida Region is seeking volunteers interested in helping with the reception desk in their Broward & Miami offices. Volunteers are needed to: receive and route incoming calls, collect information from clients seeking assistance, take messages, greet incoming members and clients, sort mail, file and assist with additional tasks. Volunteers are needed between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. English is required, bilingual is a plus. Aging Network's Volunteer Collaborative empowers older adults to volunteer. Since its launch in May 2012, more than 200 people have joined the online community at the new Aging Network's Volunteer Collaborative. The Volunteer Collaborative is an online resource to assist the Aging Network in engaging and empowering older adults and maximizing their leadership skills and experiences. It is funded by the Administration for Community Living Administration on Aging and led by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) in partnership with several other aging network partners. The goal of the Volunteer Collaborative is to increase the number of older adult volunteers to one million by 2015. Mentor a college student through MDC's Single Stop Mentoring Program. The program places a mentor and student in a two-year mentoring relationship to provide the student with the additional support needed to persist toward a college degree. For the mentor, it provides a volunteer opportunity tailored to fit the schedule of a working professional while providing the rewarding opportunity of assisting a student working toward their college degree. The process is simple - anyone living in the Miami area, who is 24 years or older and has completed a two-year college can apply. Fill out an application, attend a one-time mentor orientation and complete security screening. Once you have cleared these simple hurdles, you are matched with a student and will be expected to send one weekly email to your mentee and meet with them once a month at the MDC campus or MDC Single Stop sponsored event. Volunteer and make a difference for children in foster care. Foster Care Review (FCR) is eager to recruit new citizen review panel volunteers to help make a difference in the lives of abused and abandoned children living in Miami-Dade's foster care system. Volunteer panel members spend one weekday per month reviewing the status of children and making recommendations to Miami's Juvenile Court and other concerned parties regarding each child's safety, well-being and permanency. FCR's volunteer panels provide caring and investigative oversight for each child, while information collected through our reviews helps FCR to advocate for system reform. FCR volunteers must be 25 years or older and must be a resident of Miami-Dade or Broward County. Background screening is required. No special skills are needed. Training will be provided. ReServe Miami helps continuing professionals age 55+ strengthen their communities. The organization connects the county's under-resourced nonprofits and public institutions (partners) to a large base of experienced professionals 55+ (ReServists) who want to give back. In exchange for a stipend paid by the partner organization, ReServists in Miami-Dade County work in a variety of capacities - from infrastructure to direct service - to help organizations stay on mission. Respite for the Holidays - Easter Seals has been awarded funds to provide facility-based respite service - either in an assisted living facility or a nursing home - depending on the level of care required by the individual in need of service. In order to qualify, the person must be a functionally impaired older adult over the age of 60 residing at home with a primary caregiver. This service gives the caregiver time to manage various tasks during these busy days and be recharged to continue to care for their loved one at home.
