United Way of Miami-Dade Helps Families Cover Prescription Costs,
the FamilyWize prescription drug discount card is being distributed by
United Way of Miami-Dade. For people with no health insurance, or who
need medications not covered by their insurance plan, this card could
lower the cost by an average of 35%. There are no age, income or
residency restrictions, no limit on how many times you can use it and no
waiting to get a card. United Way of Miami-Dade has joined more than 820
United Ways in all 50 states. The goal of this Partnership is to save
$100 million in consumers’ prescription drug costs over the next 4

Easter Seals South Florida has been awarded funds to provide facility-based respite and to offer assistance that can help grandparents or other relatives raising children or caring for a young adult with disabilities. It will be provided either in an assisted living facility or a nursing home depending on the level of care required by the individual in need of service. Florida Housing Finance Corporation - Online Affordable Rental Housing Locator. Offers real-time rental information in English or Spanish, allowing property owners to list available housing for free. The website will link people with affordable and available rental housing throughout Florida and allow landlords, including providers of critically needed supportive and special needs housing, to advertise their properties free-of-charge, while helping renters to easily find property that fits their needs. Through a partnership with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the website also includes a separate search engine for locating assisted-living facilities and adult family-care homes. Providing Assistance With Utility Bills The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will be assisting eligible residents in Miami-Dade County with electric and gas bills. LIHEAP applications are available at CAA Service Centers, Monday through Friday 8 AM-5 PM.
