HIGHLIGHTS

Volunteer with United Way of Miami-Dade. Learn more about two great ways to give back to your community:

- Become an Impact Council volunteer. As part of United Way's community plan, volunteers commit to helping United Way achieve key goals in the areas of education, financial stability and health. These volunteers serve on one of six impact councils focused on children, youth, families, older adults, health and financial stability. United Way's impact councils develop council goals and objectives; assess funding requests and formulate investment recommendations; identify public policy priorities; develop other relevant recommendations to address achievement of the goals and objectives; and monitor program outcomes. To learn more, contact Chassah Perez at perezc@unitedwaymiami.org or at (305) 646-7035.
- Become a volunteer reader with the ReadingPals program. Spend an hour each week reading to children in early education classrooms across Miami-Dade. The 24-week program begins October 15, 2012 and concludes May 10, 2013. Prior to beginning the program, each volunteer will be required to complete a background check and attend an orientation session, which will provide the tools and training to equip volunteers to be successful and effective readers. This is a unique opportunity to both instill the love of reading in young children, and engage volunteers in a fun and inspiring hour that will become the highlight of their weeks. Learn more about ReadingPals and become a reader.
