Become a ReadingPals Volunteer
United Way of Miami-Dade

Volunteering just 30 minutes of your time a week to read to a child makes a lifelong impact, in their life and yours. ReadingPals is a statewide early literacy initiative that provides volunteer mentors for students from Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) to 3rd grade who may need extra help, utilizing one-on-one or small group settings. In Miami-Dade, ReadingPals offers volunteers an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with preschool children. ReadingPals volunteers help children improve their social-emotional development and early literacy skills through interactions with two children 3 ? 5 years old. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic ReadingPals will be held virtually.

One-on-One Youth Mentoring
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami

Have a lasting impact on the life of a child in our community by volunteering as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami! Volunteer mentors (Bigs) are strategically matched with a youth (Little) based on youth needs, volunteer skills, and common interests and personalities. Virtual mentoring opportunities are available through Bigs in Schools/Sites, in which Bigs and Littles spend time together at a designated site on a weekly basis. All matches are currently meeting online. Activities include watching movies together, fitness activities, taking virtual tours of parks and museums, discussing books and current events, or simply talking about what's going on in life. BBBS Miami staff also host periodic virtual Impact Activities throughout the year to provide opportunities for Bigs and Littles to spend time together. Bigs are asked to commit at least one (1) hour a week for a minimum of one year. Staff will be available every step of the way to provide support and make the volunteer experience a positive one for both you and your Little!
