NEEF National Public Lands Day
City of North Miami Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon park

Join staff and volunteers of The Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park for NEEF National Public Lands Day! NEEF's National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, this celebration brings out thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country. NPLD is also a "Fee-Free Day" - one of only five days a year when entrance fees are waived at national parks and other public lands. This memorable event will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 9am - 12pm. Volunteers will participate in a park clean-up and offer staff support with educational activity stations. Please note: - Participants need to sign a waiver. - Bring water, gloves and wear closed toe shoes. - The park is awarding students double community service hours. - Plan to meet under the east picnic shelter. The Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park is a 22-acre oasis of subtropical plants, trees and animals which borders Arch Creek in the heart of North Miami. It offers scenic beauty, paved trails and 2 picnic facilities that can be rented for special events and parties. There is also a private pony ride concession within the park. There are special events and programs offered at the park throughout the year. There is also a private pony ride concession within the park. Not only is there a private pony ride concession within the park, but also a petting zoo with goats, chickens, pigs, horses, ducks, donkey, ponies and, miniature horses.

GEM Volunteer Opportunity- Family Necessities Kits
GEM Global Empowerment Mission

Support the incredible work of Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) by volunteering to sort and pack GEM Family Necessities Kits. These kits supply essential aid for GEM's disaster relief missions. GEM has multiple shifts available every Friday: 11:45am-2:00pm, 2:30pm-4:30pm, or all day 11:45am-4:30pm. Please wear closed toe shoes to the volunteer project. Water will be supplied, refillable water containers suggested. All volunteers must register on the POINT app - cick on the "Register" icon to access the registration page. Global Empowerment Mission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 as a first responder to global disasters.To date, GEM has supported missions in 40 countries, all 50 US states, and territories including the Caribbean. The organizations complete 360 degree response results in having a long-lasting institutional impact.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade CERT have partnered with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), a disaster relief organization that is dedicated to restoring hope for the communities most affected by natural disasters. We are seeking volunteers to help the victims and communities devastated by Hurricane Fiona and we need your help! From September 23rd thru October 3rd MDFR Fire Stations 1 and 34 will be collecting donations and volunteers are needed to receive donations and load them into parked box trucks. Closed toe shoes are mandatory for this volunteer event. Bring a valid Photo ID and your own water container and a snack. Light lunch will be provided.

Venetian Causeway Coastal Cleanup
Miami-Dade Parks

On the fourth Saturday of every month, volunteers can assist the Causeway staff and beautify this coastal park to keep our ocean ecosystem healthy. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own reusable gloves to reduce waste. Responsibilities and Duties: Removing microplastic and trash along the Green Space Park on Venetian Causeway's shoreline; additional tasks as needed. Qualifications: Youth under 15 must have a parent / guardian present. Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and practice social distancing. Masks recommended. Community service hours letter will be emailed, by request, following the event.

Support Our Food Pantry
Salvation Army - Miami Area Command

Volunteers are needed to pack groceries bags from our pantry for our clients to be distributed and support handing out the first 100 grocery bags to clients. Volunteers will be packing grocery bags during both shifts Tuesday - Friday 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM Volunteers will support in distributing food to clients 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM. At the Salvation Army, our doors are open every day, and night of the year. Through our emergency housing facilities, homeless shelters, transitional living centers, group homes, and family shelters, we provide over 10 million nights of lodging annually. In addition to supplying shelter from the elements, beds, food, and basic hygiene resources to those in need, we help combat long-term homelessness in America by serving homeless adults, veterans, and children with holistic physical, emotional, and spiritual support.
