Homestead Bayfront Park Coastal Cleanup
Miami-Dade Parks

On the first Saturay of every month, volunteers can assist the Homestead Bayfront Park & Herbert Hoover Marina staff and beautify this coastal park to keep our ocean ecosystem healthy. Responsibilities and Duties: Removing microplastic and trash, additional tasks as needed. Qualifications: Youth under 15 must have a parent / guardian present. Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and practice social distancing. Please bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toed shoes, and protection from the sun (suncreen, hats, sunglasses). If you have your own gloves, we recommend bringing them. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.

Support Our Food Pantry
Salvation Army - Miami Area Command

Volunteers are needed to pack groceries bags from our pantry for our clients to be distributed and support handing out the first 100 grocery bags to clients. Volunteers will be packing grocery bags during both shifts Tuesday - Friday 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM Volunteers will support in distributing food to clients 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM. At the Salvation Army, our doors are open every day, and night of the year. Through our emergency housing facilities, homeless shelters, transitional living centers, group homes, and family shelters, we provide over 10 million nights of lodging annually. In addition to supplying shelter from the elements, beds, food, and basic hygiene resources to those in need, we help combat long-term homelessness in America by serving homeless adults, veterans, and children with holistic physical, emotional, and spiritual support.

Thanksgiving Meal Kit Drive

Thanksgiving is usually a time for friends and family to gather around the table, feast on a hearty meal, share stories, and be thankful. For some of our neighbors, this is a difficult time of the year ? a feast is not possible, and this yearly celebration can become a burden. Join us as we kick off this holiday season with our Thanksgiving Drive! Create Thanksgiving Meal Kits from the comfort of your home with all the items listed below and drop them off at United Way Miami anytime from now through Friday, November 4th before 4:00PM. One complete meal kit contains the following items: - Bag of rice - Gravy packet - Can of green beans - Can of black beans - Can of cranberry sauce - Box of stuffing mix - Box or bag of mashed potatoes - Box or bag of cornbread or biscuit mix - Box of mac and cheese (family size) - Dessert mix (pumpkin pie mix, cake mix) You can bring in all items in any one or multiple bag or box that suits you as long as there are completed Thanksgiving Meal Kits. We will have a community-wide packing day where the items will be packaged and distributed to families in the community. Completed meal kits may be dropped off at United Way Miami on weekdays from 8:30am to 5:30pm from October 1st to November 4th. United Way Miami The Ansin Building 3250 SW 3rd Avenue Miami, FL 33129 Letters for community service hours can be emailed upon request after the kits have been dropped off. Every 2 kits donated equals 1 hour of community service. Volunteers must sign in at United Way's front desk during drop-off in order to receive credit for community service hours donated or communicate to United Way miami staff via email.
