Currently, we have a need for volunteers to respond to the impacts and community implications of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Note that United Way of Miami-Dade continues to closely monitor and evaluate the situation to ensure we are taking necessary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our volunteers. We will update you regarding the status of this volunteer opportunity should anything change.
Centro Campesino is a Community Development Corporation that strengthens families in Central and South Florida. We do this by providing opportunities to access affordable housing, hmeownership support, economic advancement, and educational and leadership development. To date, we have provided job training and placement to more than 1,000 youth and farmworker adults in non-agricultural jobs, and guided over 3,000 families through the homeownership process.
We are starting our COVID-19 Outreach Education program and need volunteer support in sharing information on COVID-19. There are two types of shifts available:
1.) Volunteers are needed to pack bags with COVID-19 information and Personal Protection Equipment for families in the community. Items include flyers, testing site information, list of community resources, and masks.
2.) Volunteers are needed to go door-to-door distributing packages with information on COVID-19 and educating community members on the resources available to navigate the current pandemic. Volunteers will be practicing social distancing as they will be talking to community members at minimum six feet distanced apart. Staff members will be readily available for support and a brief training will be provided.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING, PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE SHIFT THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SUPPORT AND A STAFF MEMBER WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH YOU SHORTLY. EXACT TIME AND DATE TO BE DETERMINED.
